Club Profile
Team Avalanche Promotosports is a motor sports club based in Shimla and registered under the Registration of Societies Act 21, 1860. Team Avalanche is a member club of The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the National Motor Sport Federation recognized by the Government of India and member of the Indian Olympic Association. The FMSCI is in turn the official National Federation appointed by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the parent organising body of all two-wheel motor sport globally.
Team Avalanche was formed by a group of young motor sports enthusiasts based in Shimla, a beautiful hill-station situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, renowned for offering some of the best terrain and conditions for organising motor sport events in the world.
The present members initially came together as marshals for the legendary Himalayan rally in 1987, India’s only international rally till then and later a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship. Since then the club has providing organizational manpower and logistical expertise and support for running more than two dozen motor sport events in Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country.
In addition to organising events, the club also runs its own competition team that participates in motor sports events in both four-wheel and two-wheel categories. Various drivers and riders representing Team Avalanche have won accolades in many motor sports rallies and races held across the nation. Today, the current members of the club have vast experience and expertise in organising and handling motor sport and adventure events as well as in participating as professional competitors.
Team Avalanche’s objective is to develop and promote motor sports in all its aspects, in the nation as well as specifically in the state of Himachal Pradesh. There is a need to promote and highlight the vast potential our region holds to host quality motor sports events that have the capacity to gain international status. Our state stands to immensely benefit from the media exposure such events are able to garner, which will further the cause of promoting Himachal Pradesh as an adventure tourism destination. The additional revenue accrued by the hospitality and tourism industries and the inhabitants of the state due to the large number of visitors attracted to the region by such events is also obvious.
We all at Team Avalanche hope to project the image of motor sport as a safe, affordable and enjoyable sport.
